Five Bike Accessories You Can Keep In Your Bag

If you have had a flat tire when out biking, chances are you had to carry or drag your bike home. This is the most inconvenient situation ever, especially when you are on the rush to work or on your way home. This kind of problem can be addressed if not prevented. All you need are a few tools and accessories to remedy the problem that you are in. Of course, you can't stick a whole tire into your bag, but you can pack a few things that can fit in your sack for just when you need it most.

• An Air Gauge – Not sure if you are losing air because there are tiny holes in your tire? Bring a gauge with you so that you can measure the tire pressure in your wheels. These are small accessories that you can pick up at any hardware store or at the bike shop that you frequent the most. This can actually be slipped into your pocket but you won't always need it so jam it in your knapsack for when you do.

• Patches & Glue – Yes, you might run over some glass or a nail while you're biking but the damage might not be so bad. What you need to do in a situation like this is patch up the holes temporarily until you can get a permanent situation to your tire woes. Bring some rubber patches and glue with you on your next trip. Make sure it's tough glue so that the patch holds together until you reach a repair shop or your house.

• Rubber Tube – There may be times that you get into an accident that totally rips the inner tubing of your tire. Luckily, you can buy spare inner rubber tubing for your wheels at your local bike shop. Make sure that you get the right size for your bike. All you have to do with these is replace the damaged tubes inside the wheels. It may take time but at least this solution is permanent and best for those really hard-to-repair wheel situations.

• Foot / Floor Pump – There's a hand pump that can be attached to the frame of your bike but you might not like this option. Hand pumps are quite long too so they are not best to keep in your bag. Instead, you can get a foot pump that is smaller and is actually easier to use. You will not get tired using it to pump your bicycle wheels and it is easily foldable to fit the small spaces in your bag.

• Pocket Tools – There may be some nuts and bolts that need a little tightening while you are biking. This means that you will need to bring a toolkit. Of course, you don't have to bring an entire set. You can buy some pocket tools that have all that you need such as screwdrivers, small wrenches, etc. Find a set at your local hardware store today and throw it in your bag.
