The wheel definitely has its place right up there in the greatest inventions that man has made. Thanks to the wheel, several applications of it have made our lives easier and much more convenient. Several things ranging from the wheelchair to trains, cars, and even airplanes have been outfitted with wheels. Today we're going to be talking about the greener mode of transportation: the bicycle. From its humble beginnings in the 1800's to its rise to fame in the Tour De France, there's no doubt that the bicycle has made its impact on everyday human life. Everybody loves having a bike. Whether you're doing the neighborhood paper routes, riding it to school or even taking it out for a weekend bike trip, a bike is definitely a good investment. Here are a couple reasons as to why having a bike is to your advantage. 1. Ride to good health Cycling is a good form of exercise, there's no doubt about that. It's a good way to have a cardio workout and definitely a green way to get from point A to B. Don't wait till your doctor tells you to go exercise because your health needs it, whoever said an apple a day keeps the doctor away surely forgot about the whole exercise bit to keep yourself in good health and in good shape. Try it out for a while. If you're going somewhere not too far away why not try riding a bike for a change. 2. It's a great way to see the sights Taking a scenic drive every now and then is a great way to see places. But if you get tired of the usual way of sight seeing, ask a couple of your friends out for the weekend. Go on a mountain trip or out on the beach. Ride on your bikes and feel the wind on your face. Whether you're on the mountains or at the beach, riding a bike in these places sure is a great way to go places. That is if you're too tired to walk that is. 3. It helps you get your work done – faster. Bicycles have several work applications. Children and even adults could use these so they could accomplish their work from doing paper routes, messengerial duties and any other occupation that one might use the bike with. This is ideal for their line of work because the bike doesn't need any fuel for it to move; it just needs a lot of will power and physical endurance if you're going through great distances that is. Another benefit from this is that you don't need to spend anything for gas and all. This would mean that what you earn would stay with you without any deductions due to fuel and any other cost that cars bring about. Just be careful that you don't get clipped or hit by passing vehicles. Riding on a bike doesn't really provide you with the best of safety features you know, so just be safe. Look out for incoming traffic and any other vehicle that might not be able to notice you. Put on some blinkers and reflectors on your bike to make sure that you would be seen. |
